E.T. Simonds 500 hr safety incentive package given to all employees

E.T. Simonds Construction Company has a duty to provide a safe work environment for all employees. It is a basic responsibility of all management, no matter in what capacity they may function, to make safety a part of their daily concerns. This responsibility includes providing a safe work place, safe equipment, as well as safe work procedures. To this extent, E.T. Simonds Construction Company has developed a Safety Program that is to be adhered to by all employees. Employees should contact the Manager of Personnel & Safety for more information.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL

Active participation in and support of safety and health programs is essential. Therefore, all management personnel of E.T. Simonds Construction Company will display their interest in safety and health matters at every opportunity. Each manager will establish realistic goals for accident prevention in their area of responsibility and will work with others to implement the necessary steps for meeting these goals.

SUPERVISORS

The safety and health of the employees is a primary responsibility of the supervisors. In meeting this obligation, supervisors will:

  1. Assure that all Company, as well as state and federal, safety and health rules, policies and procedures are understood and followed by all workers. This is accomplished by reviewing these rules with all workers at the start of a job, new employees and as the job or conditions change.
  2. Require the proper use and care of all necessary personal protective equipment needed to protect workers from hazards.
  3. Identify and promptly eliminate job hazards.
  4. Conduct safety meetings on a regular or as needed basis with all employees.
  5. Complete proper accident investigations and follow up on all reported accidents.
  6. Actively follow the progress of injured workers and display an interest in their rapid recovery and return to work.

SAFETY STAFF

The Company’s safety staff is responsible for advice and assistance in administrating E.T. Simonds Construction Company’s Safety Policy and Program. The Company places the administration of this program with the Personnel & Safety Manager.

EMPLOYEES

Although safety is a management responsibility, each employee is expected, as a condition of employment for which he/she is paid, to work in a manner that will not inflict self-injury or cause injury to co-workers. In order to ensure that workers understand their responsibility for safety, the Company provides each employee with a safety packet covering such responsibilities.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

It is E. T. Simonds Construction Company’s policy to prevent, to the extent possible, the adverse impact on the local environment of the Company’s construction activities at the job site.

E. T. Simonds Construction Company and its subcontractors will comply with all applicable provisions of federal, state and local environment/pollution control standards as they pertain to our construction projects.

The intentional dumping/spilling of toxic chemicals, petroleum products or other hazardous substances is prohibited on the job site. Subcontractors will be required to cleanup and properly dispose of hazardous substances on the job site at their own expense.

Each job site supervisor will be responsible for field employees complying with all construction site environmental/pollution control requirements.

All hazardous products used by or generated by E. T. Simonds Construction Company’s locations will be disposed of in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws.

Accidental spills or toxic/hazardous substances meeting the E.P.A./I.E.P.A. reporting requirements will be promptly turned in to the Personnel & Safety Manager. The Personnel & Safety Manager will see that all initial reporting and reporting of cleanup and disposal procedures are met.
